Geneva is the second biggest city in Switzerland (after Zürich), and the biggest city of the country’s French-speaking region, known as Romandy. The city is situated where the River Rhône meets the Lake Léman and it has a population of 191,803 inhabitants as of 2011.
Geneva is a financial centre, and a worldwide centre for diplomacy, as it is home for the headquarters of several agencies of the United Nations, as well as the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
