The Villa Malpensata, built in the first half of the eighteenth century, hosts the Modern Art Museum (Italian: Museo d’Arte) in the city of Lugano and is one of the town’s main art galleries. It is primarily focused on promoting art of the twentieth century with a particular accent on the Expressionist School. A few names of masters, whose work is already exposed there, are Francis Bacon, Emil Nolde and Edvard Munch. In addition, the museum features technical exhibitions, exhibitions devoted to Swiss artists of the twentieth century and exhibitions held in co-operation with modern artists.
