The Toy Worlds Museum Basel or Spielzeug Welt Museum Basel (or simply Puppenhausmuseum), as it is called in German, is a museum dedicated to toys, such as dolls, teddy bears, car models, puppets, miniature doll-houses and many others.
Hosting over 6,000 exhibits in a five-story building, it is the biggest toy museum in Europe, and it boasts the largest collection of teddy bears in the entire world, with more than 2,500 of them.
Each year the museum hosts special exhibitions dedicated to carefully selected themes. These contribute to the diversity of the museum’s exhibits, as well as to bringing more attention to otherwise overlooked or forgotten customs and traditions.
The museum as well as its shop and restaurant are open to the public daily from 10:00 until 18:00. Different opening hours may apply for bank holidays. For more information you may visit the museum’s official website.
